KULDEVI

Shri Adar Mataji, Mount Abu

Narayansingh Parmar was a landlord of Mohipur in Mewar State. Once Chauhans attacked Mohipur. The war continued for some days. No one was defeated. Soon Parmars came in trouble due to the lack of food and arms. Gangasingh son of Narayansingh told his father that Acharya Shri Manidhari Jinchandra Suri is in a nearby village. Only he could save them from the trouble, because he had done a lot of miracles.

After taking permission Gangasingh left Mohipur in a Brahmins dress. Acharya was in a village near Ajmer at that time. Gangasingh went and narrated the situation. Acharya placed forward the condition that he should become a follower of Jainism.

Acharya charmed a mantra and Vijaya jai Devi appeared immediately. On the orders placed by the Acharya she gave a horse to Gangasingh. Gangasingh mounted on the horse and rode towards Mohipur. Gangasingh looked like grand army when he reached near the enemies. They thought that a grand army had come to support Narayansingh, so they ran away.

When Narayansingh heard about such miracle then they all reached to the Acharya's upashra (the place where jain saint reside for a shot time.) and adopted Jainism and became Oswals. Narayansingh had 16 sons so their family was known by their names. Such as: -

Gangasingh - Gang
Palasingh - Palavat
Dudherao - Dudhoria
Mohival - Mohival
Gidsingh - Gidia
And so on.

The kuldevi of these gotras is Shri Adar Mataji of Mount Abu.
