Maharana Karansingh Sisodia was king of MEWAR. His son Shravanji adopted Jainism in the 13th century. Acharya Yashobhadra Suri was his guru. His family was named Shishidia.
It is also said that Thakur Padamsingh Sisodia of Mewar became oswal, and his family was named Shishodia.
According to Deepvijay Gani:- Samarsingh Sisodia married the princess of Delhi. He had four sons. The two elder sons became kings of Nepal, so were called Gorakshak (Gorkha).
Fourth son, Karaansingh ruled Chitore. He had 3 sons named Mahap, Rahap and Dhiraj. Prince Dhiraj suffered from leprosy. Jain Bhattarak made him healthy, so he became oswal. His family was named Sisodia. Seth Shantidas was son of Dhiraj. Emperor Jahangir called him Mamaji (meternal uncle). Seth Shantidas Shishodia was nagar seth of Ahmedabad. Some historians call him Samantsingh also. Emperor Jahangir honoured him with the title 'RAJA'.
Veer Dayalshah was a famous person of Shishodia gotra. It is believed that, hindi tithi(date) 5th is a bad day for Shishodia family.
Kunkurol and Kakol are sub gotras of Shishodia.
